We were invited to experience a refurbished Meeting Place Kitchen, and from the moment of arrival it was clear this beachfront favourite has undergone a thoughtful transformation. Once a casual café, it has now entered a new era – reimagined into a relaxed yet elevated dining spot shaped by owners who have invested care, intention and a clear vision into every detail.

The restaurant sits directly beside the Peace Statue, offering panoramic sea views that feel immersive rather than decorative. The seaside setting is a defining feature of the experience, allowing guests to feel closely connected to the coastal surroundings rather than simply viewing the sea from a distance. Terrace seating leads straight onto the beach, and the space feels open, calm and purposefully designed for long, lingering meals in a spectacular setting.

Arriving just before sunset showcased what the location brings to dining experiences. The changing light across the sea becomes a natural backdrop to dinner, shifting the atmosphere from bright and breezy to warm, intimate and quietly romantic. Slow, ambient music and attentive but unintrusive service support this transition, creating an easy rhythm throughout the evening.

The new menu, launched last month, draws on Italian and Mediterranean influences across breakfast, lunch and dinner. Two standout dishes from the visit were the stinco di agnello, a slow-braised lamb shank that was exceptionally tender and juicy, practically falling off the bone; and the Meeting Place creamy chicken was another highlight. Both dishes were generous, comforting and confidently executed.

The stylish bar area has a fabulous array of tipples and offers cocktails, with the pink-hued Lychee Martini and tropical Pornstar Martini standing out for their presentation and quality – and what better way to end your meal than sipping cocktails while watching one of Brighton’s breathtaking sunsets or taking in the awesome power of the coastline as winter draws in? With festive menus arriving soon, the owners are clearly continuing to build on their vision. As manager Bulent states, “The mission of The Meeting Place is to always be better, for the guests, for the experience.”

After this visit, it’s easy to see why The Meeting Place Kitchen is fast becoming a go-to for both lunch and evening dining – a Brighton classic, refreshed with purpose and care.
