The Pub Quiz Awards

5 Aug, 2025

Calling all quizmasters and quizzers!

The Pub Quiz Awards is the UK’s first-ever award ceremony solely dedicated to the quizmasters and the vibrant pub quiz community that fills our local pubs with knowledge, laughter, and healthy competition. This unique, grassroots event honours the passion, wit, and community spirit behind one of Britain’s most cherished traditions—bringing people together through the magic of trivia.

More than just a weekly night out, pub quizzes are cultural touchstones. They challenge the mind, spark conversations, and connect people from all walks of life. Whether it’s the joy of a correct answer, the agony of a near miss, or the banter between rounds, quiz nights bring pubs to life. At the heart of every great quiz is a quizmaster—the unsung hero who writes the questions, sets the tone, and brings the room together with charm, humour, and knowledge.

The Pub Quiz Awards is here to shine a spotlight on those quizmasters—the storytellers, researchers, and entertainers who make quiz nights unforgettable. It’s a celebration of their creativity, commitment, and the community they help build, one question at a time.

Award Categories:

  • Pub Quiz Award
  • Best Pub Quiz Writer
  • BN1 Best Pub Quiz Award
  • BN2 Best Pub Quiz Award
  • BN3 Best Pub Quiz Award
  • Best Quiz Question
  • Pub Quiz Team Award

Entry is completely FREE (via the Pub Quiz Awards website), and all quizmasters in the BN1, BN2, and BN3 areas are invited to submit their pub quizzes between 1st–30th September. Then there is a public vote that runs from 1st–31st October, and the top three quizzes in each area will be invited to the awards ceremony, held at The Mucky Duck pub on 1st December.

The event is the brainchild of Dean Harrington, a veteran quizmaster and trivia writer with over a decade in the pub quiz world. Driven by his love of trivia and community, Dean’s mission is to give recognition where it’s long overdue. His message: “Let’s make quizzing history together!”

Dean apologises that quizzes in other BN areas can’t enter this year—but promises they will be included in future editions. This ceremony will lay the groundwork for an even bigger celebration next year which will include all pub quizzes in the BN area!
