Dry January

31 Dec, 2023

Mocktails, partying sober and healthy living in 2024

Following the excesses of Christmas, January is traditionally the perfect time to detox from alcohol and reset your body and mind for the year ahead.

There are many benefits to giving the hard stuff a break that include; weight loss, better memory function, balanced moods, better heart health and a boost in your immune system – not to mention the financial gains.

Giving up alcohol in the long or short term shouldn’t stop you from going out and enjoying yourself, our city has many fabulous bars offering low and no alcohol cocktails and we have road tested a few. Read on to find our top picks for non alcoholic cocktails in the city…

Torstig

Situated in the heart of Kemptown, you will find it easy to stick to your sober resolution (and beyond) this month as this venue offers a wide variety of zero alcohol and low alcohol beverages. Torstig’s ethos is to bring non alcoholic drinks front and centre, not just as an afterthought. They are also the official partners of Dry January and you can also visit their bar in London. The masterminds behind the brand created low and no alcohol drinks because they believe we all deserve well blended, expertly crafted beverages, and they have certainly achieved this.

Be At One

This venue is synonymous with fun and is fast becoming the go to place for delicious cocktails in the city. The team are lively to say the least, and some evenings you may find them dancing (safely) on the bar. With daily Happy Hours you can sip your non alcoholic cocktails while watching the world go by at a window seat in this vibrant central Brighton location. Choose from; a Reformed Pornstar, or a Pants on Fire and many other sin free drinks while soaking up the party vibes.

The Permit Room

Not a cocktail bar, but serving non alcoholic options, makes this venue the natural choice when going for a meal for those of you wanting no alcohol in your cocktails. This relatively new venue which is a nod to the Permit Rooms of Old Bombay boasts delicious Indian food in the form of starters, curries and sharing plates. And the drinks? Why not try the Sober Negroni? Or the Pink Pepper Pineapple Soda? Simply delicious. We will be reviewing the food and drinks in the new year.
