Feast & Fable: An interactive Family Fringe Show for May Half Term | Light the fire, knead the dough and gather round for a story-cook-along this May half term
This May half term, something tasty, toasty and magical is a-rising at Caravanserai as part of this year’s Brighton Fringe Festival.

Feast & Fable: A Story Cook-along invites families to step out of the city and into the magical world of the Story Baker. Set in the quirky surroundings of Caravanserai’s new Under the Archway stage, this is not your usual theatre show. Every guest is handed ingredients as they arrive and the familiar tale of Little Red Hen begins, set in the local area. Soon, it becomes clear that this is much more than one story alone, as folk tales and fables from all over the world are brought by migrating birds, along with the ingredients for our dough. This enchanting performance is about sharing and participating to create something wonderful, and will stay with you long after the smell of fresh bread and woodsmoke.

Brought to you by Woodfire Camping and Tale & Hitch Productions, this family experience blends traditional storytelling with hands-on cooking. Together, audiences knead, shape and bake their own bread to be cooked over the flames before breaking it and sharing it, just as people have done since time immemorial all over the world.

Running on selected dates from 24th – 31 May, Feast & Fable is ideal for families looking for something different this half term: a fun and tasty take on storytelling. With three shows a day it is the perfect appetiser during half-term.

This enchanting and hands on show shares traditional tales from around the world and is about cooking, sharing, contributing and friendship.
Tickets are £14 (adult)/ £11(child), with all ingredients provided (including gluten-free options). Children must be accompanied by an adult and all cooking is supervised.

Runs on the following dates: 24, 25, 28, 29 & 31 May 2026 at 12pm, 2pm and 4pm
