Family Ents presents the return of Bad Manners to Brighton for their annual Christmas outing! In 1979, Bad Manners formed as a nine-piece ska band whilst at school in Manor House North London and were at the forefront of the 80s Ska Revival movement.. They had 12 singles on the UK Chart including Ne-Ne Na-Na Na-Na Nu-Nu, Lip Up Fatty, Special Brew, My Girl Lollipop and Can Can. and were 111 weeks in the UK Singles Chart. By the mid-80s, the ska craze had waned and the band retired temporarily, only to return in 1989 with Return Of The Ugly, they’ve been touring and delighting audiences ever since. Splodgenessabounds is a British punk rock band, associated with the Oi! and Punk Pathetique genres. Their frontman is Max Splodge. The band is best known for their 1980 track, "Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps", coining a phrase that lent its name to a BBC sitcom. Peculiarly, the song was the B side of a single. The less-popular A side was "Simon Templar", a souped-up version of the theme tune of the ITV TV series, The Saint.

In a crawlspace at the offices of Switchboard, a queer helpline in operation since 1974, lies dozens of log books kept by volunteers describing the phone calls they had taken: a teenager whose parents had kicked them out of home for dressing as the wrong gender; a lesbian terrified of having her baby taken away from her; a man arrested for chatting up another man in a public toilet; a young person wanting to know how to come out. Frame of TENure - BWA Link Collective. The Frame of TENure brings together the work of TEN Brighton Women Artists with deep and varied connections to the city. All live, work or were born in Brighton, and their practices are shaped by its cultural, political and social landscape. Presented at the Fishing Quarter Gallery on the seafront, the exhibition is grounded in a site associated with labour, resilience and collective identity, offering a fitting context for a show rooted in shared experience and mutual support. The exhibition has grown out of the wider Brighton Women Artists (BWA) group, a network formed to empower and uplift women artists by creating more opportunities for exhibiting, networking and professional support. Through collaborative projects, rolling programmes and gallery initiatives at the Sussex Innovation Centre, BWA provides a platform for women artists to be seen, heard and supported on their own terms. Open View at George Gallery George Gallery invites you to Open View, our late night gallery and wine bar, held Thursday to Saturday from 4pm to 11pm at our Brighton space on Duke Street. Open View offers a relaxed opportunity to experience the gallery after hours, with six contemporary artists currently on display. Visitors are welcome to explore the exhibition at their own pace, whether discovering the gallery for the first time or returning to spend more time with the work. Our in gallery wine bar is open throughout the evening, creating an informal setting to engage with the artworks and atmosphere. No reservations are required, and guests are welcome to arrive at any time during opening hours. Artists currently on view include Richard Berner, Estes Hansen, Bob & Eve, Daisy Doig, Ali McNally, and Matt Eley.
