StylePixie – Trend Focus

31 Oct, 2024

What’s hot and what’s not you may be thinking! Every season we are bombarded with the latest trends, urged along by clever marketing, making us believe that we need to part with our hard earned money and buy into whatever is the latest fashion fad. We battle our way through daily life being bombarded with subtle and not so subtle ideas of must have perfection. Don’t get left behind, is the message. Buy! Buy! Buy!

But what is really worth our money and what will end up in landfill in a matter of moments?

There can be lots of factors at play here, our level of environmental focus, our disposable income, our age and our stage of life. Often heavily trend lead garments really don’t stand the distance, enthusiasm waning quickly after the first few wears. These indulgences come at a cost. They become addictive as we desperately try to keep ahead of the ever-changing fashion curve and disappointed when we realise that we have, in fact, been suckered in again to the vacuous hype.

So instead of steering you all along the path to the next best thing, perhaps I could encourage you to really consider what you already own and how you can make better use of it. Could a trip to an alteration’s expert breathe new life into it? Expertly personalising items so they become something that is out of the reach of trends.

Could you consider that your fashion budget for the upcoming season gets directed to investing in pieces that really speak to your fashion personality, making conscious additions of items that will hold you in good stead for years to come?

So, what are good investments when it comes to updating our wardrobes? Sometimes we really do just need to have a fresh new thing to lift our spirits and get us out of a funk. Sometimes we really do need to buy something new. So, what’s good to indulge the fashion hunger?

Thoughts… Buy items in colours and shapes that suit you. Buy items that really work for your current lifestyle. Invest in great basics that bind your more unique pieces together and change up your look with great accessories. Invest in shoes or boots, coats, knitwear, blazers, and a great pair of jeans. Invest in pieces that you will wear over and over and over.

Stay tuned for next month when we take a look at the world of Colour Analysis and how it can really help you build a conscious wardrobe.

Tell next time…
