Dine & DJ

1 Oct, 2024

This month in Cooler Than You, we chat to Lisa, founder of Dine & DJ events for over 40s who are looking for a unique experience.

Tell us about Dine & DJ? We create boutique events in partnership with beautiful local venues for people over 40, where we provide delicious food with tables set to encourage people to socialise and meet new people. Guests can come alone or with friends, but either way they will have an amazing night with like minded people. We always have famous House DJs (such as Danny Rampling) and the nights invariably end with dancing and a new friendship or two blossoming.

Why did you decide to create these events? I’m a huge advocate for building strong, connected and supportive communities and with the rise of everything going online, I thought it even more important to bring people from all walks of life together by providing experiences filled with things they already love. I wanted to create a space that promotes organic socialisation and natural conversation. A huge part of creating the events the way we have was that both my friends and myself love eating out and often want a dance afterwards to great music, but just don’t want to do the whole queuing for a nightclub anymore.

What is the food like? Amazing food is the main focus for all our events which is why we pride ourselves on creating interesting and varied menus for all our events. For our next event in January we will be doing a mixture of small plates to provide a complete culinary experience for our guests, where dishes will range from port braised short rib with smoked pomme puree to tuna tartare with wasabi dressing. However, we also cater to our plant based and veggie guests and it’s incredibly important to us to create equally interesting dishes for them, as so often they can be an afterthought.

Where will the next event be hosted? Our next event is on the 31st of January is at the Exclusive Rockwater Hove Rooftop Restaurant & Bar and while we are keeping the DJs secret for now, we can confirm our resident DJ, Soulcadelic will be back by popular demand.

Why should people come? You will love our events if you’re over 40 and crave a memorable night out with your friends or would love to meet new people, combined with delicious food!

Tell us three things you love about Brighton? Having lived in Brighton for 17 years, I honestly would not want to live anywhere else in the UK, I love the eclecticness and that no-one seems to care what anyone is wearing or doing. Brighton is both big enough to provide me with enough to still get excited walking into Hove or the Lanes but small enough to bump into friends frequently. I love the spontaneity of the city. The day can always start off one way here, but the sun comes out and you can end up with a whole bunch of friends on the beach in the evening in the most delightfully unexpected way.
