Embroidery Workshop: Medusa A beginner to intermediate embroidery workshop celebrating the great myth of Medusa, in a mindful way that's designed engage you critically. Medusa is one of mythology’s great female figures: sometimes misunderstood, sometimes celebrated, sometimes feared. Her story has been interpreted in many different ways, making her a fascinating starting point for a creative and reflective stitching session. This Halloween workshop invites you to sit down, slow down and sew while exploring your own response to Medusa. As you stitch, we’ll talk about how making something by hand can give us space to think through how we feel about an idea, an image or a story. What will you learn? This is an introduction to a range of hand embroidery techniques. Together, we’ll explore: - Backstitch - Running stitch - Split stitch - Satin stitch - Fly stitch — time permitting Along the way, I’ll share some of my own tips and tricks, including threading, stretching your fabric and how I back my finished work.
