Leave No Trace have teamed up with The Postman Art and created a new campaign for 2024 that aims to raise awareness about keeping our beaches clean in Brighton.

Thousands of tourists and locals flock to Brighton and Hove beaches every year and leave tons of rubbish and plastics behind that are detrimental to local wildlife and the natural environment. According to Brighton Council beach goers  have left 300 tonnes of rubbish in just three months. Despite repeated calls from the council to residents and visitors to keep our beachfront clean and litter free, some people either don’t think or don’t care about the environmental damage they’re doing to the beach, sea and marine life.

In an attempt to combat the issue and make people aware of the dire situation, Leave No Trace (LNT) have teamed up with The Postman Art, known for their vibrant artwork and created some unique images that are displayed in their signature poster style at various locations on Brighton beach. The posters feature wildlife images and environmental champions Sir David Attenborough and Green Party favourite, Caroline Lucas and serve as a visual cue to people to take their rubbish home.

LNT Brighton, established in June 2020, is a community interest company (CIC) founded by a group of local beach lovers that campaign to raise awareness of environmental issues and take action to protect our beaches and green spaces. Their mission is to empower the local community to take responsibility for the local environment by reducing waste and promoting sustainable behaviours.

This wonderful campaign promotes a summer of change and has been welcomed by locals and especially the teams of people from across the city who donate their time to collect the rubbish left behind.  You can donate to help the cause through PayPal by visiting the website.
