Hotel Pelirocco

31 Mar, 2023

Our Co-Editor, Samantha Harman was invited along to check out the new themed room, ‘Salon Rouge’ at Hotel Pelirocco, Brighton’s original Rock N Roll boutique hotel.

Words by Samantha Harman

The iconic Hotel Pelirocco has launched yet another new, themed room and I am happy to report it is everything you’d want for a romantic and (very) sexy night’s stay. Upon arrival, I was greeted in the hotel’s Tiki bar by Alice who was dressed head to toe in a Moulin Rouge Circus style top hat and tails, a huge hint of things to come. The Peli really know how to throw a party and the colourful lounge area was already buzzing with guests including a DJ and I was presented with a welcome cocktail from Devil’s Dyke Gin. The drink went down far too easily, consisting of Apricot Brandy, the aforementioned Gin, lemon juice with cranberry and Grenadine topped off with a Maraschino cherry. Resisting the urge to order another, as the tour was about to begin and I know from personal experience the dizzy heights of those stairs. (There is a lift available for guests) We followed Alice to the second floor, where she flung open the door to reveal Salon Rouge. It is what I imagine Christina Aguilira’s dressing room might have looked like on the set of the Moulin Rouge music video. Everything is gold and deep red, velvet, chiffon or feathers with the four poster bed taking centre stage as you walk in. Scan the room and you quickly see the second jaw dropping feature, a red, freestanding roll top bath, complete with a shelf to rest ice cold Champagne upon (one can dream). I couldn’t resist having a bounce on the bed which is ridiculously comfortable and flanked by a rail of luxurious robes, masks and feather boas to ensure your stay is as fun as possible. There is also a double shower in an adjacent room, perfect for washing away the previous night’s shenanigans and fyi, the loo seat is gold glitter, so you can even pee in style. The room is gregarious and over-the-top theatrical glamour at its very best, I couldn’t imagine anything other than having the most sublime night in this room. As always, Pelirocco is offering cheaper rates and free breakfast when you book directly, what are you waiting for? Go get your sass on.
