Beach Body Ready

28 Jun, 2024

The summer holidays are upon us and with the excitement of an upcoming beach holiday it can be a double-edged sword for many of us. The dreaded idea of facing the fitting rooms whilst trying on endless swimsuits can leave us feeling less than enthused at the prospect of having to bare our almost naked bodies to the world.

But do not fear, sometimes just knowing the right shapes and styles to best compliment your unique shape can be the guiding hand to confidently choosing the right style for you.

All body shapes come with variables, it’s what make us unique. Some have long legs or short waists, or short legs and long waists. All body shapes come in a multitude of sizes ranging from XXS – XXL. Meaning you could be 5’2 and a size 18 or 6.3 and a size 6 and anything in between. So with this is mind, here are my quick tips guide to helping you find the right swimsuit for you. Depending on the placement, contrasting colour or pattern can highlight certain features. Ruffles and volume enhance and disguise. Ruching creates shape.

Petites – Can wear most styles but can benefit from ruffles on the bust or bottom to accentuate shape. Pear Shape – Volume and ruffles on top will balance out the bust. Horizontal striped tops matched with colour block bottoms. One shoulder suits or separates draw the eye upwards. Avoid halter necks as they make your top look narrower. Rectangle – Sleek suits with waist cutouts or contrasting colour panels down the side create shape. Sweetheart necklines, side ruching and contrasting waist bands create curves.  Apple – Cross over busts and waists are your best friends. Bold patterns can also distract the eye.  Monochromatic suits will slim and lengthen. Avoid light coloured suits as they tend to be less forgiving. Inverted Triangle – High waisted bottoms with ruching with strapless tops are a perfect combo. Ruffles on the bottom also enhance the volume to this area. Hourglass – Suits with contrasting waist bands, sweetheart necklines, cross over tops, halter tops, boy leg bottoms all work beautifully.

Learning to confidently dress your unique beautiful body is all about understanding the parts you want to highlight and the parts you want to disguise. We all have bits we love and bits we prefer were different, this is human nature.

Need a more personalized approach to enhancing your best bits confidently?
