Seascape Cocktail Experience

31 Oct, 2024

I’ll admit, heights make me a little nervous. Since the Brighton i360 was built, I’ve been hesitant to hop on board because of my fear. However, when my Discover colleague couldn’t attend the Seascape Cocktail Experience, I saw it as the perfect opportunity to face my fears in the name of journalism. Here’s to stepping up—literally!

On the evening in question my partner and I walked along the seafront arriving at 19:10 sharp to be given a brief, have our bags checked and select the first cocktail to be consumed at 450 feet. My nerves were visible even though I had performed numerous deep breathing exercises from the moment the famous landmark came into view.

Georgia, one of the i360 team greeted us and was very kind to a wobbly me as I ordered a Cherry Reef (vanilla vodka, citrus blend, cherry puree, morello cherry, served with a red sugar tule) My partner opted for a Smokin’ Barrel (Italian Brandy Liquor, served with a smoky twist). And a few minutes later bags were checked and we boarded the famous pod.

None of the usual standing for us as squishy sofas are placed strategically around the front of the pod allowing maximum comfort and unrestricted views of Brighton. We sat and moments later, our cocktails were served by team member Johnny on a silver tray, who also put my mind at rest regarding the ‘flight’ having been aboard himself many times, even during high winds. The drinks were tremendous, my partner’s came served in a copper mug with theatrical smoke pouring out of the top giving Harry Potter vibes. Both were perfectly balanced and I downed mine like a teen in a park (for the nerves you understand).

We began ascending and I was pleasantly surprised by the smooth, slow journey to the top. Not as terrifying as I imagined.

Half an hour passed and we ordered our second cocktail, a Negroni which was perfectly blended once again by the expert cocktail makers and by this time the pod had started to descend and I was enjoying views of the city that I am in love with. Gold street lights created maps of never ending roads stretching towards Rottingdean or Worthing, with buildings like Lego pieces and ant-like people and cars going about their Friday night business. The view is unmissable and the darkness of nighttime made it even more special.

Once we safely reached terra firma (loo break) we were asked if we wanted to go up again, of course we did!

Our experience costs £39.15, 2 x cocktails and entrance. If you want to take it easy on the hard stuff you can have 2 x mocktails and entry for £25.65. There are also single drink and entrance options for £29.50/£20.50. This experience would make an amazing Christmas gift. Book now!
