Kalms Herbal Remedies, a leading emotional wellbeing brand, created the exhibition in response to research showing that 42% of UK adults struggle to find moments of calm in daily life. Originally developed as a digital sanctuary, the Moments of Kalmfulness gallery has now been brought to life as a physical experience on Brighton’s iconic seafront. The exhibition explores the concept of ‘kalmfulness’ – a state of feeling peaceful and balanced amid everyday life – and encourages people to embrace small, achievable ways to reduce stress. Kalmfulness can be found in simple, everyday moments – from taking a few deep breaths to spending time outdoors or connecting with loved ones. This idea sits at the heart of the Moments of Kalmfulness gallery, which brings these everyday moments to life through calming imagery designed to help visitors pause and reset. The concept is supported by research showing the impact of visual calm. While 65% of UK adults say time outdoors helps them feel more relaxed, over half (52%) say that even viewing images of nature or tranquil scenes can help them feel more at ease. Visitors can explore a carefully curated collection of images capturing moments of peace and tranquillity. The gallery […]

An Evening with Kae Tempest. Kae Tempest is widely regarded as one of Britain’s greatest wordsmiths. In a career of ferocious creativity, he has received multiple prizes and critical recognition across the many forms he works in. Beginning as a lyricist and songwriter in his teens, Tempest threw himself fully into whichever discipline he could find work in; gigging as a poet, writing for the theatre or busking with his band. A decade later, this obsessive compulsion to push his writing as far and as hard as he could, secured him a record deal with UK independent label Big Dada and a poetry publishing contract with Picador. Tempest’s work has always sought to pull the focus between the global or national concerns of a character, and the private, very intimate experiences of their lives; the minuscule and the mundane peering out from behind the incomprehensibly large and overpowering. Whether it's austerity, addiction, communal disassociation, the planet in crises, or the death of our prevailing myths, the bigger picture is always made up of tiny parts. Now this May at TOM, Tempest joins us live on stage to discuss his much anticipated return to fiction. His first novel in a decade, […]

Our reconstruction respects the elegant musicality and poetic wit of the original script, while shaping it into a fresh theatrical language that speaks directly to contemporary audiences. Cheeky, clever Chunxiang turns a strict schoolroom upside down with quick timing, lyrical banter and playful chaos. The production features the refined artistry of male dan performance — a classical cross-gender tradition — adding expressive nuance and a unique layer of theatrical beauty. Together, the ensemble creates a lively blend of movement, comedy and musical rhythm rarely seen on the modern stage. Performed in a traditional Chinese operatic vocal style with Chinese and English surtitles, the work offers an inviting introduction to the grace, humour and expressive physicality of Kunqu. Whether you are encountering Chinese opera for the first time or returning as an enthusiast, this joyful reimagining provides a colourful, accessible and delightfully mischievous window into one of the world’s oldest operatic traditions.

Perfect for newcomers and curious learners, the workshop offers a gentle, engaging introduction to one of the world’s oldest performance traditions. Nearly lost to time, the piece survived only through fragmentary manuscripts and scattered oral accounts. Our team spent months researching surviving scores and archival traces to reconstruct the work with rigorous historical care and reimagine it with a vivid contemporary theatrical language. Following its 2025 appearance at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, this revival continues its international tour. Set in a dreamlike world where loyalty collides with destiny, the story unfolds through striking physical movement, expressive gesture and rich musicality. Performed by a Huadan (female warrior role) and Hualian (painted-face male role), it presents an unusual and compelling pairing seldom seen in today’s Chinese opera. The Adam Buxton Band Join Adam Buxton and his live band for an intimate evening celebrating the release of his debut album, Buckle Up, out now via Decca. Buxton, our most beloved podcaster, seasoned veteran of GarageBand and the jingle, enlisted Metronomy’s Joe Mount as producer and band leader ... “I hoped it would be a Metronomy record with my voice”Buxton initially pondered, also hoping the outcome might sound like “Berlin-period Bowie and Eno going for lunch with Radiohead and Nina Simone at Brian Wilson’s beach brasserie.” Instead came fifteen songs that inhabit the space between heartfelt and silly, where Buxton has comfortably set up shop.

Double Bill: I'm sorry to disappoint you all + In This Room I'm sorry to disappoint you all: Two friends tangled together. Cocooned in their high rise flat and swallowed by the vastness of the city, an unravelling begins. Dynamic contemporary dance unfolds against swirling projected landscapes, set to an eclectic, layered sound score by composer Phoebe Coco. Drawing on the duo’s shared mental health struggles and frustrations with the current climate for artists, I’m sorry to disappoint you all is a touching exploration of isolation, futility and the search for deeper connection. In This Room: An inquisitive, intergenerational group of local artists, makers and creators have teamed up with Charis and Mette of The 12th Floor to experiment, create and connect. What you see is the result of 3 workshops full of play, hard work and dedication. The 12th Floor thanks this wonderful group for taking a leap of faith with them. The 12th Floor are proud recipients of the South East Dance Fringe Roots Award.

Running at award-winning The Actors Theatre, I Want To Speak To Your Manager (How I Was Radicalised And Became...Karen) tells the true story of one woman’s fight for justice (i.e. refunds), one complaint email at a time. You’ve heard this woman in a café, complaining her extra-hot-skinny latté isn’t hot enough. You’ve seen her in a restaurant, demanding dishes that aren’t on the menu. You’ve met her in the ALDI car park, where her SUV takes up multiple spaces: the dreaded Karen. But could you – down-to-earth, humble, people-pleasing – become her? Holly did. And she’s ready to speak her truth. This debut one-woman-show from internationally-acclaimed slam poet and accidental keyboard warrior Holly Hughes is a bold, hilarious and brutally honest interrogation of who gets to be angry in today’s society. After all, what is so wrong with holding people accountable? When broligarch losers are destroying the world, is being a […]

Chemistry | ★★★★★ hit comes to the Brighton Fringe: Witty and tender, Chemistry is a life-affirming love story sparked in therapy. Steph’s battling chronic depression. Jamie’s crashed after pushing himself way too far, way too fast. They meet in a psychiatrist’s waiting room - hardly the stuff that rom-coms are made of - but the spark is instant and undeniable. What follows is messy, electric and unexpectedly beautiful. When your own brain feels like the enemy, is falling in love the bravest thing you can do - or the most reckless? Studies show that 1 in 4 adults in England will experience a mental health problem each year. Darkly funny and deeply moving, Jacob Marx Rice's Chemistry is a frank exploration of how we manage love - and life - when we rely on chemicals to keep us balanced. The Covetousness is a rare treasure of Kunqu (Chinese Opera), revived from a little-performed scene in The Nanke Dream, one of the most celebrated classical plays of the Ming dynasty. Performed in a traditional Chinese operatic vocal style with Chinese and English surtitles, the piece blends traditional operatic singing with clear, modern staging. Whether you are discovering Chinese opera for the first time or returning as a long-time admirer, this is a visually captivating and accessible introduction to one of the world’s most refined dramatic traditions.

As Mulan confronts a captured enemy and the loyalty of those closest to her, the play narrows its focus to a single turning point: a decision that will cost lives, break faith, and redefine what heroism truly demands. This new version strips back the epic scale of previous productions to explore the human cost behind the myth — not the battles fought, but the choice to stop fighting. Blending stylised stage combat, physical storytelling, and an immersive soundscape, Bound by the Wind offers an intimate reimagining of a legendary figure caught between duty, identity, and freedom. Created by a multicultural team of emerging artists, the production invites audiences to witness the woman behind the war god — and the moment she chooses to leave. After 3 theatre festivals in London, Babel Beast lands in Brighton Fringe! Babel Beast is an experimental cabaret made by and for mythical creatures of Ancient Greece, through which Sofia Natoli explores her multiculturalism and lived experiences of (un)belonging in between cultural spaces - herself divided between Italy, France and the UK. This interdisciplinary array of cabaret acts - featuring burlesque, stand-up, lip sync and more - both spotlights the tragedies of Ancient monstresses and reveals what it means to be a hybrid woman today, shape-shifting between cultures. Whether repurposing pop culture, childhood nostalgia or mythic storytelling, Babel Beast is “everything you could want from a cabaret” (London Pub Theatres). This captivating one-woman spectacle is familiar yet fresh, energizing yet intimate, and fundamentally “a love letter to speaking many languages” (audience response). If you are a cabaret lover, a Greek myth fanatic, or someone who's ever felt like an in-between, then this show is for you! You are invited for a night of frightening and seductive, strange and reflective encounters - and the Sphynx is waiting for you... “If you get the chance to take in this show then you should thank the Gods!” ★★★★ London Pub Theatres “Full of […]
Jonny Woo: Suburbia | Jonny Woo's latest personal show, Suburbia, about his life from the suburbs of Kent to the queer scene in London and the sex clubs of New York received rave reviews and the Brighton Fringe Award for Excellence at The Edinburgh Fringe, 2025. Blending story-telling, drag, song, spoken word and burlesque, this is easily his most revealing show yet, in more ways than one. Now in his fifties, Jonny reflects back at the people and moments that made him the man and the performer he is today. He grew up in The Medway Towns and found drugs and the club scene in the early 1990's before exploring his drag alter ego in NYC at the turn of the Millennium. Memories of his first sexual experience and his first "drag" inspiration echo like ghosts throughout and amongst the wild confessions he confronts his fears and triumphs in this unique coming of age story. The presence of a mysterious suburban "cross-dresser" permeates his narrative in a show which is as much a feast for the eyes as for the soul.
