El Mistico

Imagine you’re heading to TOM with your friends, chatting away, excited to see El Mistico; the hypnotist and magician show. It’s a night you’ve been looking forward to; you’re intrigued about it and know you’re going to wonder “how does he do that?”

As you take your seats, your best friend announces she’s going to volunteer – she’s always been curious about hypnosis.

Award-winning Magician and Mind Reader, Angus Baskerville opens the show. He takes to the stage and you immediately relax as he performs magic trickery right in front of your eyes and accurately reads the minds of his chosen volunteers… “How does he do that”. As he reveals his finale, he takes a bow as the audience applaud.

The interval creates heightened excitement with overheard words from audience members… “I’m absolutely getting up on stage”, “I’d love to experience hypnosis”, “we’ll watch and video you” and “if it’s anything like the YouTube clip, it’ll be amazing”.

The lights dim and music starts. The intensity increases and the anticipation feels electric. The curtains open and International Cabaret and Master Stage Hypnotist Poldark appears, welcoming the audience into his hypnotic world. As the music fades, he speaks to everyone and seizes your attention. Asking for volunteers, your best friend takes a seat on the stage with 20 or so others, ready to be part of something special.

Over the next two hours, Poldark expertly hypnotises his volunteers into a trance making them the stars of the show, as they entertain you, members of the audience. There are moments of laughter; your best friend frantically searches for an imaginary puppy that has escaped from her arms. She believes she’s won £5million on the lottery and strangers get drunk on water at the imaginary bar.

Not only lots of fun comedy, there was much more which is unexplainable; genuine moments of amazement and wonder, which you are struggling to understand and that last act, “wow, how does he do that?”

You choose how you enter the comedic world of hypnosis; as a spectator in the audience or as a volunteer on stage to bring the entertainment to life.

El Mistico is mystical; a unique unforgettable performance; it’s mesmerising, spellbinding, it’s a show that will literally blow your mind!

Taking place at TOM, Thursday September 26, 7.30pm. Discover Brighton readers receive 10% off using MISTICO10. Tickets via www.theoldmarket.com. Official promo reel www.youtube.com/@PoldarkShow
